Vanessa Hudgens says her family’s privacy was ‘not respected’ when she confirmed the birth of her first child

Vanessa Hudgens and her husband, professional baseball player Cole Tucker, have welcomed their first child.

The “High School Musical” star confirmed the news in a social media post in which she slammed paparazzi for taking photos of her and Tucker leaving a hospital with their newborn earlier this week. TMZ published the photos on July 3.

“We are disappointed that our family’s privacy was not respected and exploited during this unprecedented time by the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media,” Hudgens, 35, wrote on her Instagram Story on July 4.

“Despite everything, mother, father and baby are happy and healthy,” she added.

Hudgens announced her pregnancy in March by flashing her baby bump on the red carpet at the 96th Annual Academy Awards.

The actor and singer, dressed in a black floor-length dress, posed for the photographer while holding her baby bump.

She later attended a Vanity Fair afterparty in a sheer black dress that emphasized her stomach, which was accentuated by a navel piercing.

In May, Hudgens showed off her baby bump again when she shared a photo on Instagram of her and Tucker, who plays for the Los Angeles Angels, posing together on a baseball field.

“You can call it faith, you can call it angels, you can call it whatever you want,” she wrote, quoting from the 1994 baseball fantasy film “Angels in the Outfield.”

Hudgens and Tucker married in Tulum, Mexico in December 2023, less than a year after announcing their engagement in February 2023.

The couple, who first sparked relationship rumors in late 2020, met during a Zoom meditation led by lifestyle podcaster Jay Shetty, Hudgens told “Entertainment Tonight” the following year.

In April 2023, Hudgens told TODAY.com that Tucker came into her life through the “power of manifestation.”

Hudgens explained that she literally had “a list” of qualities she looked for in a partner.

“Someone who can celebrate themselves so they can celebrate me. Someone who has a naturally positive outlook on life, because I do. Someone who works to live, not lives to work. Someone who is crazy,” she said.

After spending her first weekend with Tucker, she knew he was the one. “I thought, you literally meet all my requirements,” she recalls.
