Nicki Minaj cancels show in Romania, cites protests in region

The singer-songwriter announced the news less than an hour ago on her X account, informing her millions of followers that she will not be performing in Eastern Europe. Her team says protests in the area could escalate into violence.

NM says she is a mother first and she has to think about the safety of her son and the other team members traveling with her, so she just can’t take the risk.

Minaj tells her fans she loves them and hopes they understand her decision, then adds that she will be returning to London later this week to perform.

Romanian activists plan to march in Bucharest city center tomorrow morning — in about 12 hours — to protest the state’s fiscal policies. It’s unclear why Nicki’s team thinks violence might erupt … but she clearly doesn’t feel comfortable taking the risk.

BTW… there are mixed reactions on social media. Some fans are sending their regards to Nicki, while others claim that there is very little protesting in the area, and that is why Minaj doesn’t really want to come to Bucharest.

As you know, this isn’t the first time Nicki has had to cancel a show at the last minute… remember, Nicki was arrested at Amsterdam airport in late May – and the delay caused her to… miss her show in Manchester that night.
