LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Video footage shows “Machete” star Danny Trejo was involved in a brawl that broke out during the Sunland-Tujunga Independence Day Parade.
The incident began when someone threw a water balloon at Trejo’s vintage convertible.
Footage obtained by Eyewitness News shows the 80-year-old actor confronting a man along the route, who he suspects is the person who threw the water balloon.
In the video, it appears that Trejo throws a punch at the man and the man punches back. The man’s punch misses, but a struggle ensues and Trejo falls.
The man who lunged at Trejo then punches another man in the face and throws him to the ground.
A big fight breaks out, but bystanders quickly calm it down and get the situation under control.
At one point during the fight, Trejo is seen grabbing a folding chair and then throwing it away.
Eyewitness News has reached out to Trejo’s representatives for comment.
Trejo has made a career in Hollywood playing tough guys and villains, perhaps most identified with the character Machete from several Robert Rodriguez films.
In recent years he has also focused on the food industry.
