The cause of death of porn star Jesse Jane has been revealed.
The adult film star died in January along with her boyfriend, Brett Hasenmueller, at an Oklahoma home after police responded to a welfare check. TMZ reported that Jessie, real name Cindy Howell, died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl and cocaine, according to the Oklahoma City coroner’s office. Police suspected it was a drug overdose.
Police were responding to a welfare check at the property when the bodies were discovered. The welfare check was requested by Brett’s employer, who had not heard from him for several days. It is still unclear how long Jesse and Bret were in the home.

Jesse shot to fame in the adult film world after starting her career with Digital Playground. Within months of signing a contract with the company, she appeared on Showtime’s Family Business. The porn star went on to appear in a number of adult films, including Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge, which reportedly had a budget of $8 million. It became one of the most expensive adult films ever made.
Jesse’s popularity brought her to Playboy. She hosted a popular live show called Night Calls and Playboy TV’s Naughty Amateur Home Videos. Her popularity also led to hosting several award shows, including the AVN Awards and the XBIZ Awards. She then launched her own line of sex toys.
Jesse announced her retirement from the adult industry in 2017, but two years later it was revealed that she would be returning to the industry. Jesse is survived by her son.
Outside of the world of adult entertainment, Jesse has appeared in several major box office hits including Starsky & Hutch and a guest role on Entourage. Jesse also appeared in the 2009 CNBC documentary Porn: Business of Pleasure, which showed her life off camera.
The porn star was born on July 16, 1980, in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated with honors from Moore High School in 1998. Before entering the industry, the Gazette reported that Jesse modeled for retailers such as 5-7-9 and David’s Bridal, before landing a job at Hooters for a commercial.
